Introduction to Statistics with the Wolfram Language

Introduction to Statistics with the Wolfram Language applies the extensive computational power of the Wolfram Language to the field of statistics. Starting from the basics and working through a range of foundational concepts, Klopper shows just how accessible computational statistics can be given the appropriate tool set. Topics include descriptive statistics, distributions, hypothesis testing, parametric testing, correlation and much more. Follow along as Klopper offers step-by-step instructions and relevant exercises from the field of medical statistics designed to teach readers how to understand and present data in today's increasingly data-driven world.

The Wolfram Language represents a major advance in programming languages that makes leading-edge computation accessible to everyone. Unique in its approach of having vast built-in knowledge and automation, the Wolfram Language scales from a single line of easy-to-understand interactive code to million-line production systems.

Praise for Dr. Klopper's Previous Coursework

A great introduction to understanding research and a great platform to springboard keen clinicians into performing their own research. Will take what I've learnt and apply it to my own research!

ABBAS A., from Coursera.org

The material is high yield in every regard, giving the right balance of
big-picture understanding coupled with enough detail to flesh out the experience and the understanding.

About the Author

Dr. Juan Klopper is a surgeon in academic practice at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. Within this role, he works to develop educational resources and improve health care using data science and mathematics. Mathematica and the Wolfram Language are prominent among the tools that he has found useful in these pursuits. Dr. Klopper is also the Head of Postgraduate Surgical Research and the Head of Surgical Education at the University of Cape Town.

In addition to private consulting with the Klopper Research Group, his work with the hospital and the University of Cape Town has given him the opportunity to educate and support many surgical trainees and master's and doctoral candidates. In accordance with his desire to share knowledge and improve health care, he teaches medical statistics at the university and has prepared several highly ranked classes for online platforms including Coursera and Udemy. His Coursera class "Doing Clinical Research: Biostatistics with the Wolfram Language" may be of particular interest to readers of this book.
